When I finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up, at the ripe age of 37, I realized that I had already been doing it for as long as I could remember. Putting an actual name to things is so much more freeing than continuing to stumble blindly in the dark. And while discovering this feels like a rebirth to me, I suppose it could also be categorized as a realignment to my core.
At the center of my very being, I am a graphic designer. In elementary school, I would create menus for pretend restaurants on an old DOS computer. In middle school, I once perfectly timed out a Windows 95 PowerPoint presentation to play alongside a song we did in choir.
I remember a project in high school, where the final work was supposed to be in the form of a magazine. We had to write two or three articles about Ancient Roman culture. I, however, spent the most time perfecting the cover—even including catchy titles for quizzes and articles that I didn’t write, just to make the entire project look more realistic.
I probably have a hundred more little anecdotes of how graphic design was quietly a part of me before I fully understood how big of a part it really was.
I started dreaming about creating Fyrbyrd Designs back in 2013 and started actually building it in 2023, almost 20 years after my very first job in marketing. I was beyond thrilled when I found a way to merge my passion for graphic design with my background in small business marketing.
I would love the chance to help you revitalize your marketing through the many graphic design offerings that I have. You could also join me in Marketing Rekindled, my marketing membership, and together we'll get the kindling and set the world on fire with the brilliance that is your business.
